Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illallah, Wallahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Wa lillahil hamd
Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. There is no deity but Allah. Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. And to Allah belongs all praise.
Eid prayer consists of two rak'ahs with extra takbeerat. The Hanafi method (3+3) is shown below; Shafi'i method uses 7+5.
Intend to pray two rak'ahs of Eid al-Fitr or Eid al-Adha wajib prayer behind the imam.
Say 'Allahu Akbar' with the imam to begin the prayer, fold your hands, and recite the opening supplication (thana).
Hanafi: 3 extra takbeerat (raise hands to ears each time, let them hang, then fold after the last one). Shafi'i: 7 extra takbeerat.
The imam recites Surah al-Fatiha followed by another surah. It is sunnah to recite Surah al-A'la or Surah Qaf.
Complete ruku and sujood as normal, then stand for the second rak'ah.
After al-Fatiha and another surah: Hanafi: 3 extra takbeerat, then takbeer into ruku. Shafi'i: 5 extra takbeerat.
Complete ruku, sujood, tashahhud, durood, and dua, then give salaam to end the prayer.
The Eid khutbah is after the prayer (unlike Jumu'ah). Listening is sunnah. The imam will speak about Eid rulings, taqwa, and unity.
