💡 Tip: Write these duas on paper or save them on your phone. Keep the list in front of you during the night. You can also make dua in your own language.
Each dua with full Arabic, transliteration, and translation. Compiled from the Quran and authentic hadith. Recite repeatedly throughout the night.
Allahumma innaka 'Afuwwun Kareemun tuhibbul 'afwa fa'fu 'anni

One of the most beloved duas to Allah — make it with tears on Qadr night.
Allahumma aslih ummata Muhammad, Allahumma farrij 'an ummati Muhammad, Allahum-marham ummata Muhammad
O Allah, rectify the Ummah of Muhammad, relieve the Ummah of Muhammad, have mercy on the Ummah of Muhammad.
The Prophet ﷺ himself made this dua weeping. Imagine its weight on Laylat al-Qadr.

O Allah, guide me among those You have guided, grant me health among those You have granted health, protect me among those You have protected, and bless me in what You have given.
This is the Qunut dua taught by the Prophet ﷺ — perfect for the last third of the night.
Allahumma ajirni minan-naar
O Allah, save me from the Fire.
The Prophet ﷺ said whoever asks Allah for Paradise 3 times, Paradise says 'O Allah, admit him.' Whoever seeks refuge from the Fire 3 times, the Fire says 'O Allah, save him.'
Allahumma inni as'alukal-jannata wa ma qarraba ilayha min qawlin aw 'amal, wa a'udhu bika minan-naari wa ma qarraba ilayha min qawlin aw 'amal
O Allah, I ask You for Paradise and every word or deed that brings me closer to it. And I seek refuge in You from the Fire and every word or deed that brings me closer to it.
A comprehensive dua that covers both seeking good and avoiding evil.
Ya Muqallibal-quloob, thabbit qalbi 'ala deenik
O Turner of hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion.
The Prophet ﷺ made this dua very frequently. If his heart needed steadfastness, how much more do ours?
Allahumma-ghfir li dhanbi kullahu, diqqahu wa jillahu, wa awwalahu wa aakhirahu, wa 'alaaniyatahu wa sirrahu
O Allah, forgive all my sins — the small and the great, the first and the last, the open and the hidden.
The Prophet ﷺ would make this dua in sujud. It covers every type of sin comprehensively.
Surahs especially connected to Laylat al-Qadr and the blessings of the night. Tap to read on Quran.com.
This surah was revealed about Laylat al-Qadr itself. Only 5 verses, yet it contains the entire significance of the night. Recite it repeatedly throughout the night.
Innaa anzalnaahu fee lailatil qadr
Indeed, We sent it down during the Night of Decree.
Wa maa adraaka ma lailatul qadr
And what can make you know what the Night of Decree is?
Lailatul qadri khairum min alfi shahr
The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months.
Tanazzalul malaaikatu warruuhu feehaa bi-idhni rabbihim min kulli amr
The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter.
Salaamun hiya hattaa matla'il fajr
Peace it is until the emergence of dawn.
Only five verses, yet every word carries profound significance. Explore the verse-by-verse analysis to understand the true grandeur of this night.
Indeed, We sent it down in the Night of Decree.
"Innaa" (Indeed, We) — Allah uses the royal plural (We), which in Arabic denotes grandeur and majesty. This indicates the immense significance of the act of sending down the Quran.
"Anzalnaahu" (sent it down) — "It" refers to the Quran. Ibn Abbas (RA) explained that the entire Quran was sent down from the Preserved Tablet (Lawh al-Mahfuz) to the first heaven (Bayt al-Izzah) in one night, then revealed gradually to the Prophet ﷺ over 23 years.
"Laylat al-Qadr" — The word 'Qadr' carries two meanings: (1) Honor and dignity — this night surpasses all other nights in status; (2) Decree and destiny — on this night, all matters for the coming year are decreed and written.
And what can make you know what the Night of Decree is?
This is a rhetorical question (istifham) expressing wonder and magnification. Allah addresses the Prophet ﷺ — the status of this night is so incomprehensible that human intellect cannot fully grasp it.
When Allah says "wa maa adraaka" in the Quran, He always follows with the answer Himself. This indicates the matter belongs to the unseen (ghayb) — knowledge of it can only come from Allah.
The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months.
1,000 months = 83 years and 4 months. More than the average human lifespan! One night of worship is more valuable than an entire lifetime of worship.
"Khayrun" means "better than" — not "equal to." This night is MORE than a thousand months; how much more, only Allah knows. Scholars of tafsir say this is the minimum — the actual merit is far greater.
Mujahid narrates: The Prophet ﷺ mentioned a man from Bani Israel who fought in the way of Allah for 1,000 months. The Companions felt disheartened that they could never match that reward. Then Allah revealed this surah.
The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter.
"Ar-Ruh" (the Spirit) refers to Jibreel (AS). He is mentioned separately due to his special rank. He is the most honored among all the angels.
The verb "tanazzalu" indicates gradual and continuous descent. The angels descend in groups throughout the night. A hadith states that on this night, the number of angels on earth exceeds the number of pebbles.
"Min kulli amr" — "for every matter" — the angels bring mercy, blessings, and the decrees for the coming year. They pray for and bestow peace upon every worshipper.
Peace it is until the emergence of dawn.
"Salaam" (Peace) — the entire night is enveloped in peace. The angels greet every believer with salaam. No evil or satanic harm can operate on this night. The entire night is wrapped in mercy and security.
"Hattaa matla'il Fajr" — this peace and blessing continues until the rise of dawn. This clarifies that the night begins at Maghrib and ends at Fajr — the window for worship is limited, so every moment must be utilized.
Ibn Kathir explains: This night contains only good, no evil whatsoever. Until Fajr, it is complete peace — physical, spiritual, and metaphysical tranquility.
Allah concealed the exact date so that Muslims strive in worship every night of the last ten. Learn the positions of various scholars and their evidence.
Ubayy ibn Ka'b (RA), Imam Ahmad, and most Companions
Ubayy ibn Ka'b (RA) would swear by Allah that it is the 27th night. He said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ told us its signs — the sun rises that morning without rays." (Sahih Muslim 762)
Imam al-Shafi'i
From the hadith of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (RA): The Prophet ﷺ saw in a dream that he was prostrating in mud and water. That night it rained and he prostrated in mud on the 21st night. (Bukhari 2018)
Imam Malik, Ibn al-Arabi, and many Hanafi scholars
The Prophet ﷺ said: "Seek it in the odd nights of the last ten." (Bukhari 2017). It may fall on a different odd night each year.
Ibn Hazm
Some hadith simply say "seek it in Ramadan" without restricting it to the last ten. However, this is a minority position.
Ibn al-Qayyim
"Allah concealed it as He concealed His pleasure in acts of obedience, His wrath in sins, and His close friends (awliya) among people — so that people would strive at all times."
See the scale of Allah's extraordinary mercy in numbers — a compensation for the shortened lifespans of this ummah.
1 Night
= 1,000 months
= 83 years 4 months of worship
10 Years
= 10 Qadr nights
= 830+ years of worship
30 Years
= 30 Qadr nights
= 2,500 years of worship
Avg Lifespan
≈ 60-70 years
Without Qadr, just one lifetime
Previous nations lived for hundreds of years — Nuh (AS) called to his people for 950 years. This ummah lives 60-70 years on average. Laylat al-Qadr is Allah's compensation for these shortened lifespans — enabling us to earn more reward in less time.
The unparalleled merit of this night as described by the Prophet ﷺ and the Quran. Each hadith from authentic sources.

"The best prayer after the obligatory prayers is the night prayer." (Sahih Muslim 1163). On Qadr night, seek closeness to Allah through long standing and prostration.
The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever says it during the day with firm belief and dies before evening, he will be among the people of Paradise. And whoever says it during the night with firm belief and dies before morning, he will be among the people of Paradise." (Bukhari 6306)
O Allah, You are my Lord, there is no god but You. You created me and I am Your servant. I uphold Your covenant and promise as best I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil I have done. I acknowledge Your blessings upon me, and I acknowledge my sin. So forgive me, for none forgives sins except You.
Keep these on your tongue between prayers, during breaks, and throughout the night. Each one on Qadr night equals 1000+ months of reward.
SubhanAllah
Glory be to Allah
Alhamdulillah
All praise is for Allah
Allahu Akbar
Allah is the Greatest
La ilaha illallah
There is no god but Allah

There is no power or strength except with Allah
Astaghfirullah
I seek forgiveness from Allah
Allahumma salli 'ala Muhammad wa 'ala aali Muhammad
O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and his family
"The Prophet ﷺ used to observe i'tikaf in the last ten days of Ramadan until Allah took him." (Bukhari 2026). Complete devotion in the masjid.
Spiritual retreat in the masjid devoted to worship. From sunset on the 20th of Ramadan until the moon of Eid is sighted. Men in the masjid, women in a designated space at home.
Salah, Quran recitation, dhikr, dua, istighfar, studying Islamic knowledge. Avoid worldly conversations. Minimize phone use.
Intention (niyyah) is required. If wudu breaks, make wudu and return. Leaving is permitted for necessities (bathroom, bringing food). Marital relations are prohibited.
True accounts from the life of the Prophet ﷺ and his Companions regarding the Night of Qadr. Each from authentic hadith.
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (RA) narrates: The Prophet ﷺ was observing i'tikaf in the last ten days of Ramadan. He saw in a dream that he was prostrating in mud and water. That night (the 21st), clouds gathered and it rained. The mosque roof was made of palm-leaf stalks — water seeped through. The Prophet ﷺ prostrated in Fajr prayer and I saw the marks of mud on his forehead.
Sahih al-Bukhari 2018
Aisha (RA) said: 'I asked, O Messenger of Allah, if I know which night is Laylat al-Qadr, what should I say during it?' He replied: Say — اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي — O Allah, You are pardoning and love to pardon, so pardon me. This became the single most important dua for the Night of Qadr.
Tirmidhi 3513
Aisha (RA) narrates: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would strive harder in worship in the last ten days of Ramadan than at any other time. He would stay up all night, wake his family, and tighten his waist belt (devoting himself entirely to worship). He would even distance himself from his wives during these ten days.
Sahih Muslim 1174
Abdullah ibn Unais (RA) said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about Laylat al-Qadr. He said: 'I was shown it, then I was made to forget it.' The Companions would exert their utmost effort on every odd night, because they never knew exactly which night it was.
Sahih Muslim 1167
Abu Hurairah (RA) narrates: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever stands (in prayer) during Laylat al-Qadr out of faith and seeking reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.' Abu Hurairah narrated this hadith so frequently that it became one of the most well-known hadiths in Islam.
Sahih al-Bukhari 2014
The difference between Tahajjud and Qiyam al-Layl, number of rakat, best timing, and the Prophet's ﷺ detailed method of night prayer.
Qiyam al-Layl
Any prayer performed at night — from after Isha until Fajr. Tarawih is also part of Qiyam al-Layl. Can be before or after sleeping.
Tahajjud
Specifically prayer performed after sleeping, in the latter part of the night. This is the most virtuous form of Qiyam al-Layl. Allah descends to the nearest heaven in the last third of the night.
Minimum
Any amount is better than none — start with two rak'ahs.
Standard
Aisha (RA) said the Prophet ﷺ would not exceed 8 rak'ahs in Ramadan or outside it. (Bukhari 1147)
Maximum
Some narrations mention the Prophet ﷺ praying up to 12. The Salaf prayed 20+ rak'ahs.
Witr
Always end with Witr. It is the seal of the night prayer.
Last Third (Best)
Allah descends to the nearest heaven in the last third of every night and says: 'Who is calling upon Me that I may answer? Who is asking of Me that I may give? Who is seeking My forgiveness that I may forgive?' (Bukhari 1145)
Midnight to Fajr
Dawud (AS) would sleep half the night, stand in prayer for a third, and sleep for a sixth of it.
Right After Isha
If waking for the last third is difficult, pray Qiyam with Witr after Isha. On Qadr night, the entire night is valuable.
He would stand for so long that his feet would swell — in one rak'ah he recited Al-Baqarah, Ali Imran, and An-Nisa. (Muslim 772)
His sujud was so long that people thought he had forgotten. He made extensive dua in sujud. (Bukhari 1123)
He never rushed — he recited every verse with contemplation (tadabbur).
He would stay long in ruku', repeating 'SubhanAllah al-Adheem' many times.
He would give salaam after every two rak'ahs, then begin again. (Bukhari 990)
To maximize worship on Qadr night, you need to prepare in advance. Keep both body and mind ready.
The Night of Qadr is not just individual worship — involve your family and community. The Prophet ﷺ would wake his family to join in worship.
Explain the importance of Qadr night in simple terms
Teach small duas appropriate for their age
Read Quran together — a manageable amount for them
Spend part of the night with them, then worship individually
Let them participate in giving sadaqah
After Maghrib: family iftar and reading Surah Al-Qadr together
After Isha: family Quran recitation circle
After midnight: individual worship for each family member
Before Fajr: collective dua and istighfar
Join the community i'tikaf at your local masjid
If full i'tikaf is not possible, spend at least the last few nights in the masjid
Coordinate with the imam and masjid committee for arrangements
Feeding a fasting person earns equal reward — on Qadr night this equals 83+ years
Organize iftar at the masjid
Send food to neighbors
Arrange collective dua sessions — group dua has greater acceptance
Laylat al-Qadr equals 1000+ months. Charity given on this night equals giving charity every single day for 83+ years. Give even a small amount.
Set up automatic donations on each odd night — that way you never miss Qadr.
Any amount — even $1 on Qadr night carries the reward of 83+ years of giving.
Give to trusted charities — Islamic Relief, ICNA Relief, LaunchGood, or your local masjid.
Aisha (RA) said: "When the last ten nights began, the Prophet ﷺ would stay up at night, wake his family, and tighten his waist belt (i.e., strive hard in worship)." (Bukhari 2024)
Stayed up all night
He would hardly sleep during the last ten — spending the entire night in worship.
Woke his family
He would wake his wives and family members to join in worship.
Performed i'tikaf
He secluded himself in the masjid for the full 10 days, devoted entirely to worship.
Tightened his waist belt
Meaning he exerted himself to the utmost in worship — withdrawing from all worldly affairs.
Took a bath (ghusl)
He would bathe between Maghrib and Isha — for purity and freshness before the night.
